The dangers of anal sex

To celebrate Anal August, Here at Oh La La Shop Ltd, we only felt that it was right to celebrate it with a blog. We wanted to educate and inform people of the drawbacks and the possible health risks one faces when doing anal.

There are many different risks that we want to talk about and how they happen. The risks are as follows:

  • Increased risk of bacterial infection. This is because the anus lacks the cells that create the natural lubricant the vagina has, and it does not have the saliva of the mouth. The rectum’s lining is also thinner than that of the vagina. The lack of lubrication and thinner tissues increase the risk of friction related tears in the anus and the rectum.
  • Increased risk of STIs. This is due to the fact that the skin is more likely to tear during anal sex than during vaginal sex. This means that there is a greater opportunity to spread STIs.
  • Worsen hemorrhoids. Hemorrhoids are areas of blood vessels inside and outside the rectum that can cause itching, slight bleeding and sometimes pain. Anal sex itself is not likely to cause hemorrhoids if a person does not already have them.
  • Pregnancy. Many people think that a woman can’t get pregnant while having sex however, this is not strictly true. As it is possible for semen to enter the vagina after anal sex. This occurrence is not likely, but it can happen.
  • Increase of fistula, (a rare complication). As the anus or rectum is sceptical to tearing, it is possible for the tear to grow bigger which is communally known as a fissure or large tear. A fistula is when the tear becomes so big that it goes past the bowel and to other parts of the body. This can become a serious medical issue as this allows stool to pass through into other parts of the body. As your stool naturally has a lot of bacteria, it could mean that it lead to infections. However, this is a (RARE) occurrence and complication of anal sex.

The best ways to minimise the risk is to use a water-based lubricant and tell your partner of any discomforts or pain associated with anal sex. Both these things will help to reduce the likelihood of friction related injuries and tears. Anal sex can be become safe if you take precautions and stop if any pain or problems happen. The Fleshlight Pink Butt Sramina Training Unit can be used to improve your anal August as well as some Fleshlight lube which is now available to purchase.
